Animal Instincts Art - The Making of Binx

This is how I begin all my sculptures. I sculpt the body parts from high fire clay. Sometimes I make-shift a clay post to keep the body upright as in the picture here to try and prevent too much stress on the legs in hopes of preventing cracks.

Next, after bisque firing, I apply the glaze to the portions of his body that will not be in mosaics.

This is how Binx looked after glaze firing and he is now ready to have his mosaics added.

I started applying the glass mosaic pieces using gold mirror, copper mirror and stained glass. His collar is a deep blue stained glass. This shows the process I use to mosaic.

Finally, After all the tiles are applied and the grout has been added and cleaned, Binx is complete and ready to be adopted!
